It’s easy for those of us working remotely amidst all of this to feel helpless when we watch the news and see how many people are currently struggling due to COVID-19. Although our current situation is undoubtedly overwhelming, donating to organizations like Feeding America is a simple way to support those most at risk in our communities.
Feeding America is the nation’s largest domestic hunger relief organization, working to connect people with food and end hunger. What began in 1979 as a clearinghouse for national food donations is now the nation’s largest domestic hunger relief organization—a powerful and efficient network of 200 food banks across the country. The Feeding America network provides over 4.3 billion meals annually, helping 1 in 7 Americans facing hunger live more secure and stable lives.
KnowledgeLake employees have made it a habit to give back to organizations across the St. Louis community through donations and volunteering, and now many KLakers have collectively chosen to donate to Feeding America. Due to the spread of COVID-19, food banks are reporting a 70 percent increase in need. Their mission to feed America’s hungry is now more critical than ever.
Every dollar raised from Feeding America’s COVID-19 response fund will be used to get food and funds to local food banks across the United States. Donating is just one of the ways those of us who are able to #StayAtHome can do our part to support the most vulnerable in our communities during this difficult time. This crisis may seem like an insurmountable challenge at times but by reaching out and helping one another in any way we can, we’ll get through it together.
If you’d like to join us in serving individuals, families, and communities facing hunger across the U.S., you can donate to Feeding America now.
Want to do more? Check out Feeding America’s website for additional ways to support them during this time.
